Warners started a new service in High Point on Sunday afternoons with brother Max Johnson from Warners and brother J.G. Binkley from Salisbury leading the services. They were held at the Jones Business College on E. Commerce Street. There was also continued efforts in Boone where brother Johnson preached every 4th Sunday.
Times really haven’t changed all that much as apparently rumors began circulating in the community that Warners Chapel was planning to bring in an instrument to better its singing. A good article called “A False Report” is found in the 3/23 edition.
The 4/21 edition stated that the largest crowd in 4 years attended services with an attendance of 240 for a Sunday night of a gospel meeting with brother Elam Kuykendall. Overall there were 2 baptisms and 2 restorations during the meeting.
According to the 10/5 bulletin, Max Johnson asked to be relieved of his duties by end of year. He continued through the end of November and a nice farewell note summarizing his nearly 4 years with the congregation can be found in the 11/23 edition.
